Rose Festival 2013 Celebrated with Enthusiasm

Many competitions were organised on the second day of the 41st Chandigarh Rose Festival at Rose Garden, Sector 16, on Saturday. Among these were a photography competition, a kite flying competition, a Rose King and Rose Queen contest, a Rose Prince and Princess contest and a rose quiz.

In the photography competition, 156 photographers participated, 509 photographs were received and 85 photographs have been displayed.

The Rose King and Rose Queen contest witnessed a rousing applause with innovative dresses, styles and question-answer rounds. People were curiously seeing senior citizens doing modelling rounds in the early stage of the competition. Hooting and whistling were witnessed in the contest where the models were above the age of 60 years.

The Rose Festival has many attractions as a flower competition, stalls, displays, band competition and folk performances although rain dampened the spirit of people as all the area was soaked with water. But some of the competitions saw an impressive gathering with many people enjoying the shows.
